One of the interesting aspects of our FPGA-based design is its scalability. By combining a ZynQ MPSoC with a Kintex Ultrascale FPGA, we get over 4,500 DSP slices, which is an amazing amount of processing power for driving 20 audio channels. But if we wanted more, we could easily replace the Kintex by a Virtex, which would give us an extra 20,000 DSP slices. Of course, this would require a much bigger power supply and a small fan for active cooling, but the overall design would not change much.
