Here is what a PCB looks like before you place your components on it and properly route your tracks. What this shows is that a perfect layout for our USB Hub will take at least 50 × 50 mm. As a result, we might have to put our three USB hubs on three separate boards, instead of trying to integrate them into the backplane (one hub) and the keypad (two hubs). This would also make our design a bit more modular. In the meantime, we will focus on the schematics side of things in order to get a better sense of how much PCB real estate we will actually need for the entire system.
