Designing Packages

I’ve decided to learn EAGLE the right way, which means designing your own packages and devices from scratch. This is a bit overwhelming at first, but this tutorial is great, and this Freescale application note for the Quad Flat Package (QFP) is amazing. Here, you can see a model for the 32-TQFP package used by the ATmega328 microcontroller that we will use all over the place. Designing our own packages will give us a much better understanding of the PCB manufacturing process, and designing our own devices will improve the quality of our schematics. It’s a ton of work, but it’s actually quite fun…
