Bad news: our new bill of materials has gone through the roof. Without significant volume discounts, the cost of parts is getting close to $6,000, which means that we’ll be lucky if we could retail the ISHIZENO i8 for $7,995.
How did it come to this? Going high-end for the audio converters. Does it really make sense? I do think so, because the system that we are building is not just a synthesizer anymore. It’s a new kind of integrated sound machine, for which sound quality really matters. Will it reduce the total addressable market? Absolutely!
Is there still a market for it? I do think so, but it’s a different market, made of people who are trying to down-scale their equipment, while making no compromises on sound quality and sound processing performance. And I don’t feel like building anything else.
