Now that our overall design has converged toward something realistic (albeit crazy ambitious), I am getting ready to review our different components in more details, and I started with the AD75019 crosspoint switch. Surprinsingly, this is one of the simplest components of our design, and the only challenge will be to connect 16 of them to our Raspberry Pi 2.
One thing to note is that our crosspoint switch does not just route our 16 inputs to 16 outputs in a one-to-one fashion. Instead, it’s a matrix of 256 switches that can be configured individually, allowing any of the 16 inputs to be patched to any or all of the 16 ouputs. As a result, any input can be patched to any number of outputs, and any output can be patched to any number of inputs. Super powerful!
